Equal Opportunity in  Science

Description: Launched in 2019, the “Equal Opportunity in Science” program represents a significant stride by the Shaparak Foundation towards democratizing access to scientific education. Recognizing that financial barriers often impede talented students from pursuing their scientific aspirations, this initiative offers essential financial support. The program targets high school and university students across Europe who have demonstrated exceptional promise in various scientific disciplines but face economic challenges.

Milestones and Advancements:

  • 2019: The program was inaugurated with an initial funding pool of €500,000, supporting 50 students in its first year.
  • 2021: Expanded its reach to include specialized grants for students in underrepresented regions and fields, with an additional €500,000 allocated.
  • 2022: Introduced mentorship and internship opportunities for grant recipients in collaboration with leading research institutions.
  • 2023: Reached a milestone of supporting over 500 students, with noticeable increases in applications and diversity among recipients.
  • 2024: Launched an online platform for continuous support and networking among grant recipients, fostering a community of budding scientists.

Goals: The overarching goal of the “Equal Opportunity Science Grants” is to break down the financial barriers that hinder passionate students from pursuing science. By providing these grants, the Shaparak Foundation aims to:

  • Cultivate a diverse and inclusive scientific community.
  • Encourage academic excellence and innovation among financially disadvantaged students.
  • Foster long-term career opportunities in science for individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Enhance the scope of scientific research by incorporating diverse perspectives and talents.

Dedicated to advancing scientific research for a better tomorrow.
